Learning Activities
The following learning activities will help you to explore this case

This activity will help you gain insight into the perspectives and thoughts of
each of these individuals.

| In this activity, you will
be challenged to analyze various conditions (internal/external)
in the life of Alejandro
and his parents. You will be asked to predict the possible
consequences those conditions might have on Alejandro,
his parents, and health care providers.

Understanding the Big Picture

| In this activity, you will continue your
interaction with Sr. and Sra. Flores. The goal of this
activity is to
focus on how asking good and appropriate questions can
elicit important information that can affect patient
and family satisfaction with care.

Activity 4:
Exploring Interventions
|
| In this activity, you will participate
in a simulated team meeting with your colleagues to explore
possible interventions
in the Alejandro Flores case. Skill in cultural competency
includes choosing appropriate interventions based on
understanding the inside story, potential impacts, and
a big picture perspective of the family.
