Lecture

In this section we will discuss the issues and requirements surrounding the use of interpreters that are a result of the Civil Rights Act (CRA) of 1964. I will define terms related to interpretation services and direct you to documents that can help to understand and implement the CRA. We will also discuss issues related to providing interpreter services. As I talk about these issues, think about the Somali Immigration case as well as situations in which you have worked with clients who did not speak English. Think about how you and your place of employment have responded to the need for the services of a qualified medical interpreter.
